Project Information

Wood And Materials Used
Walnut (Clark) and Curly Maple for tray and lid , Western Cedar and birdseye maple for the tray
Tools Used
Tablesaw, Bandsaw, Router table and XTool laser
Location
Flowery Branch, Ga.
Walnut (Clark) and Curly Maple for tray and lid , light stained with trans tint and sanded out finished with Shellac. The tray fits fine with bottle underneath leaving about 3.5” for bottom area overall box dimensions are 7” tall about 6.5” wide and 15.5” in length

This in only my second laser project and was quite scary rechecking and rechecking before pushing the button on my XTool.

... Love that photo engraving... (still working on coming to grips with it).

Taking nothing away from the engraving, have you tried wood filler infill (Timbermate ebony, walnut, jarrah)?

Unfortunately, due to political red tape, I cannot refer you to am article I posted at a rival site, however, I have uploaded the images to my cloud storage... without the explanatory comments of course. Click on the link highlighted above (or here).

I'm currently working on a video about fixing some potential issues encountered if not careful.

Moving items in shop constantly !! Always have something on bench

Yes have done many with Timbermate or backfilling with Epoxy different results but ways of keeping top of project smooth. This one turned out fine after the laser and wanted to have same result S other boxes I have done. If something works I try to stick with it.

Sorry 'tired... with so little laser work posts, I often get the impression I'm the only one here with a laser...
Maybe too many are ashamed to fess up or get intimidated by the "purists" that claim lasering/CNCing is not woodworking.
