Dale, how about posting some pictures of your shop when you get a chance? We would enjoy taking a tour.

I can empathize with you about the size of your shop. I have often said that I am glad we added a third garage in our basement that I later converted into my shop. If I had to ask my wife to give up her garage space there is no doubt that I would be outside in the weather before her vehicle would be.

A garage shop, especially a small one poses interesting challenges/opportunities. My advice for the top of the list is at least two new 120V circuits with as many recepticles as you can install. (42" off the floor is ideal) Next, put several T-8 lighting fixtures on the ceiling. White paint on walls and ceiling is also a big improvement.

Keep us posted. Good luck.

Sound advise iowa, to be sure :) I am living the pain of the too few outlets every time I go out there.

The funny thing is, when we went house shopping about 8 years ago, my only input was that the garage was mine. I told my lovely wife that she could have the bigger say in everything about which house she liked. She could rule the home, but the garage was mine. I even went so far as to let her know that I had no plans on ever parking a car in there, unless I needed to work on it. (and I know nothing about cars except how to put gas in them) I always wanted a place to woodwork. Well, 8 years now….. and I can barely squeak out 40% of the floorspace. Pantry…. well we need that, freezer….need that too…..shelving for all of the things that you evidently need in life, yet can't fit in your home….need that as well. And what space I have I seem to clutter up every time I stop working on a project. LOL. Too funny. Maybe I need an outbuilding…... with power! ;P
