Water Oak Vase 7" D x 7" H finished with wipe-on-poly
This vase was turned from a piece of found wood that someone had set out on the curb for garbage pickup. I stopped by and loaded up a dozen pieces. This piece was turned "green" and I decided to turn it from the side to show better the center of the log which I thought was breathtaking. While I was still applying my coats of wipe on poly this piece began to distort and warp. The center of the vase on both sides, where the center of the tree was, began to extend outwards almost 3/8" on each side and it forced the other 2 sides to pull in towards the center, that made the top of the vase which I left the bark on become oval. The top now measures 4" one way and 4 1/2" the other way. The picture does not show the distortion as much as seeing it. When I showed it to my wife and asked her what she thought the price should be for this one. She said NFS this piece is MINE and you are NOT to sell it!
Comments and critiques welcomed. Thanks for looking.
