Project Information
I designed and built this dining room table for clients who had a very large informal dining room and like to have large but casual dinner parties. The Claro Walnut top is a sequentially book matched set with some beautiful figure and is accented with black poplar for an ebony look. (I have a bunch of this naturally occurring black poplar, if you want some, I might sell you a bit if you're really nice =) When working with the client, I designed the table to be inspired by the "Montana Ranch Home" it was for. For instance, I designed the side trestles to look "tree trunk-ish" and the rails were meant to represent the miles of fence-lines typical of Montana homesteads. The trestles have been inlaid with several different woods to give the dogwood branch and flowers designs, which are different on each side of the table. The leaves and flower petals were sand shaded slightly to add shadowing. This table met the clients' need for something elegant, unique and artistic, while at the same time giving an impression of casual simplicity.
