Project Information
Finally, my first humidor is done….
This is a commission for a recently retired Command Chief Master Sergeant friend. The top is Mahogany, and was carved with my Carvewright and then stained and sanded. The liner is Spanish Cedar and "floats" in the outer shell of Walnut which has been sealed (tested airtight) with HVAC tape and silicone. The humidity is controlled with 65% Heartfelt beads and hold this humi at that humidity for 3 weeks between refills, even here in Tucson.
The hinges are "smarthinges" and I LOVE THEM… they look great and were so danged easy to install that I was amazed… (a little pricy though)
The lock is a full mortise "viola" (Spanish made) lock and pulls the box down tight, even though there is already a good seal (see this video)

The inner top tray airholes were cut out with my carvewright as well.
Thanks for looking and as always, I'll try to answer any questions I can and appreciate your support and comments.
