Project Information

I was commissioned to make the this jewelry box as a birthday present for a friends wife. Since the size of it was bigger than my normal boxes, I went with a bookmatched, frame and panel top. Lots of learning involved with this one.

12" x 9" x 2" with bonus .5" added by the hand shaped feet. Waterlox and wax finish. Purple velvet lined bottom.

Thanks!

Gorgeous box! What did you attach the velvet with? Thanks for sharing!

Thanks ignatz. I used Super 77 spray adhesive on a 1/4 birch ply base then put the velvet on that. I put a rabbet around the of the box so the velvet could wrap around the bottom panel and I could trim it off from the bottom of the box. It made the inside nice and clean.

Very nice job on this. I really like the attention to detail on the legs and dividers.

Beautiful. Going to have to try that wrapped bottom panel on my next jewelry box.

Nice bookmatch, nice partitions, nice pick of the purple and walnut, and nicely done feet. Congradulations on your build.

Great job! Your eye for proportion and use of the grain is quite impressive.
