Project Information
This is a jewelry box I just finished for my mother. (I didn't get it done in time for Christmas) It is a walnut box with maple inlays. The flower inlay was done using scroll saw marquetry and the petals were shaded using hot sand to give it some depth. The square black border around the flower is a dyed epoxy inlay.
I finally tried my hand at some inlaid dovetails, and I think they turned out pretty well. I used my super jig to complete them. Practice definately makes perfect. The box measures about 3.75×9 x 8". I finished it off by rubbing on several coats of clear Danish oil and lining the interior with navy velvet.
