This is a chunk of Walnut Burl i scored from the local Rocklers ,this piece is 5 1/2"x 3" , walls are about 1/8" thick. Finished with wipe on poly. All comments and questions welcome.
Beautiful piece! I love claro black walnut. I think you'll find a tung/poly helps bring out more of the grain than a straight poly finish. Minwax is one I like to use as the tung oil really penetrates the wood.
thanks for all the great feedback guys and gals. The foot on this one looks small but it is the right size for this vessel, plus i left a little extra wood on the bottom to help it stand up . thanks for looking and have a great fathers day.
Another wonderful job Roper. Your eye for form is outstanding. Agree with the others about a tung oil finish. Seems to help POP the grain more then just poly.
