Project Information

Here's the bookcase I just finished for my wife. Details:

- All solid walnut
- Arm-R-Seal for the finish
- All pewter hardware from Lee Valley
- Waterfall glass ordered from the local glass place

All the rest can be found on my blog:

Long live black walnut,

Rojo

oh ya, every piece seems to have a soundtrack for me. I wore out this album during the build:

Well done Mr. Knothead, the missus must be pleased.

Great job Red. How did you keep the proud dovetails even and uniform in height?

Red, that is just plain stunning. It just doesn't get any better than black walnut. That waterfall glass is outstanding.

You may have mentioned somewhere along the line (before writing about it on your blog) that those legs are from a bowed board. I didn't know that until now - great use of that "flaw." I'll have to keep that in mind myself.

Beautiful bookcase, Red.

Lots to like on this one. Well done, I am even coming around on the wavy glass. Dovetails, arches, walnut, hardware…good stuff.

Absolutely magnificent! The proud dovetails are stunning. The waterfall glass really sets it off. It;s certainly in a class by itself.

I want to say that I appreciate all the little details you put into this case. The cathedrals on the door are a great eye catcher, and the dovetails look fine indeed. The finish looks sublime.

Yet somehow the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. You have developed quite an eye for design, Red. The whole piece just says one-of-a-kind quality craftsmanship.

Long live juglans nigra, indeed. Very, very nice.

Seems pretty full already. Gonna need to start on another ASAP!
