Walnut Book Shelf

A couple years back I wanted to build something unique for my girlfriend (now wife) for her birthday. My dad was nice enough to let me use some walnut he had sitting around for a while and help direct me on how to go about making a piece that would look nice. I wanted to make it unique and my wife likes fishing so I mounted an antique fly rod through the brackets and then hung some wooden fish (which I did not make) to the line.

Although it was finished over two years ago, it was my first project to start getting me back into wood working and I am still proud of it. It's nothing fancy, nor terribly difficult, but is a good reminder that some patience and elbow grease can help a guy create something worth showing off - and have a happy wife!
