Project Information
This pair of bedside tables was commisioned by a friend of my wife. She gave me the outside dimensions and basically turned me loose. I still have the bad habit of designing-as-I-go, so I didn't start out with the idea of doing all of those through tenons. Nothing more therapeutic than hand chiseling mortises! Everything started as rough walnut obtained locally that had been sitting in a barn for decades. I also did not plan on book-matching the back pieces of the book rack, but since I had to resaw those pieces to get them "lighter" in appearance, it just worked out that way. Finish is tung oil followed by 4 coats of poly on the base, and 8 coats on the top.
I'd like an opinion on something from those reading this - since these were for a friend, my price was quite low - any thoughts on what the market would bear if doing this as a full priced custom job? Thanks to all in advance.
