Project Information

I decided to go for some contrast and detail this time. I chose a Greek Key for the inlay and an Asian motif for the handle,

The handle is brass pinned White Oak using the the Shou Sugi Ban method for the finish ( fancy way of saying charred wood ).

I used some mosaics I purchased from a knifemaking supply company for the corner detail.

The sides are joined using a simple miter cut, and the top and bottom panels are captured in 1/4" dadoes.

Bottom panel ( not shown ) is Alder, and the liner is 3/8" Spanish cedar.

Finish is beeswax, mineral spirits, walnut oil, and teak oil.

About 31 hours start to finish, up for sale in Gallery Calipooia for $840.00

Wish me luck! :-/

That inlay is trully magnificant. I like contrasting colours - black and natural wood. The handle looks quite interesting.

Jerry shoots, he scores!

Wonderful design Jerry, that tray caught my attention in its perfect functionality and simplicity.

Nice details everywhere, overall a beautiful humidor.
