Project Information

This is my first attempt at a segmented bowl. It's not quite the shape I wanted but overall I think it's okay. I learned a lot of lessons on this one that will hopefully make successive attempts more along the lines of what I wanted with this one.

This is also the first project I've completed with a shop-made jig. I built a wedgie sled for cutting the segments and it worked great. I had one close call with a ring blowing up on me while flattening it, but that was my fault.

I sanded to 1000 grit with mineral oil and paste wax then buffed several more coats of paste wax. Looking forward to my next one!

Great first try. That sled is going to make the next 50 bowls so much easier.
