I made this wall hung desk for my daughter. It is portable for her to use in her dorm room at the university as a place for her to do her studies. Very compact and portable using a French cleat to hang the desk. I painted the outside and varnished the inside. I used poplar banding for the edges and poplar 1/2 and 3/4 plywood. Rare earth magnets hold the desk top closed. Oak hard wood is used for the handle to open the top.

That looks good, would make for a great drafting table in the shop. clean lines and good storage inside.

Thanks. I was thinking about that but my little girl got the first one. I’ll have to make a second one. Always quicker the next time around

Now that's a good idea. Plenty of utility and space saving in a cramped dorm room. I'm sure your daughter will get plenty of use out of it. Nice job...

Good question I forgot to mention that….the main hinge is a brass piano hinge and the side supporting hinges are specific left hand and right hand. I purchased them from home depot and the magnetic hold on top from lee valley tools.
