Cute little box Mike. I wouldn't let my husband get by with re-gifting the same thing to me 2 years in a row either! Good try though.

Loved your story Mike! Great little heart too! Maybe each year you could put something new inside the heart box to surprise her. Just a thought!

Thanks for that guys and Tony, a good idea, maybe she would like my head in there. Luckily it doesn't fit.

I have to confess that I had forgotten it was Valentines day this year and I saw the box laying on the shelf so in desperation I gave it to her (again). She had a laugh anyway. I'll try to make up for it next year, she really deserves better.

I took my wife out to dinner but if I had done what you did she would probably liked it more. I'm glad you didn't hurt yourself by making that little box. Sometimes the smaller projects is what will bite you.

Should have put a nice ribbon around it and maybe a little card .
Next year put a liner in it and call it the gift I keep on giving .
Glad to see you survived .

As the years go on, it might get easier to regift. Unfortunately you forgot about Valentine's day but she had not yet forgotten about last year's gift. Time will solve everything!
Let's not forget, however, that Valentine's day is a made up holiday and consumerist convention sets the expectations. If you really want to make it up to her, you can declare valentine's day to be any other day of the year, when she is really not expecting it!

I am surprised she still talks to you.

I got to give you credit for the eternal love part though.

It's a nice box.

Better not try that a third time Mike. We do not want to read your obit. here next year.

I will probably have to do something extreme next year. I'm thinking about something with marquetry work that will knock her socks off. Who knows, she might even let me back into the house.

Hello Mike, that is a funny tale! I made a similar box a few years ago for my daughter but haven't re-given it each year. You have given me some ideas though…...!!!

Yours is much nicer Stuart. Not sure if those ideas about re-giving are so good, but good luck if you try it!

No Dave, but there might be a hit if I try it again!
