Project Information
Well….I am normally very private with my projects before completion and so rarely take photos of progress. This project is being used in some marketing, and since I have the pics thought I would go ahead and post before completion.
Another reason is that due to my schedule this winter, this project has drug on WAY too long! And I want to get it out there.
Style is clearly Art Nouveau, but again with my own twist. Main body is in American Elm from my farm in Iowa. Eliptical back is Leopardwood, with Elm strips and Black Walnut ties. The dowel back support is 1/2" Black Walnut.
The seat is flat because I designed this chair around the idea of a leather seat. But since have decided to leave it as is.
For all who catch the grain weaknesses, there is an inlayed reinforcement strip on the inside of the side panels. 3rd photo.
And lastly; starting this year, all of my furniture will be 100% encased in epoxy. I have been moving this direction for some time. My designs are just too complex and normal finishes are not protecting against humidity movement well enough.
Final pics within 2 weeks.
