Project Information

I made this chalkboard easel using three 1×3 8-foot dimensional pine boards, along with 1/4 inch luan plywood which is very smooth. Then I painted the plywood with primer and two coats of blackboard paint. The pine makes it lighter and more easy to carry. It is 4 feet high by 2 feet wide, with blackboard on both sides.

The plywood sits in a groove all around the frame, made using my shop made edge guide for the router:

The joints are mortise and tenon, which I created using my shop made router jigs MortiseMeister:

I volunteer for a non-profit called Farmer Foodshare which connects people who grow food with people who need food. They need some easels for their donation stations, so now I need to fabricate four more!
