Project Information

I built this for a customer who purchased a new flat screen TV to go in an existing large entertainment center. I did not build the large piece shown in the two photos, just the base for the TV. There was an existing pullout from the old TV on which the new stand was placed. The case is oak veneer plywood and the moldings are shop made red oak. The finish was made to match the existing finish with japan colors, blo and mineral spirits with poly acrylic satin over. The back was left open to allow the heat from the components to escape. It is low enough to the floor that the rear of the cabinet with the wires and all is not visible with the components in place.

Matching colors is hard and I'm color blind but this was just a white stain, so it was very straightforward. I agree though, matching stains is an art in itself. I'm not good at matching stains in the wood tones.
