Showcase cover image for TV Shelf

Project Information

This is a TV shelf that I made for our guest room. Except for the trim on the front, I had all the materials left over from a previous project. The shelf pieces are 3/4" Birch plywood with front trimmed with Bolivian Rosewood. The Wainscoting paneling provided a nice accent to the front panels. It is mounted to the wall from the inside of the shelf so no hardware is visible. I am in process of making a Cherry cover strip for the wiring.

Bandon, I've got to ask. What kind of guests do you have, that they would stay in the bedroom and watch TV? LOL

Not only is this a nice project, but a wonderful use of otherwise wasted space. My scraps never look like that?

Nicely done.

I would be curious to see or have you describe the mounting method you used. Recently saw a set of shelves built from a section of hollow door that also had hidden mounts: they used a wooden insert that ran the length of the gap and fit snugly in the interior. They then glued and nailed the door section to the mounted bracket. The shelf appeared to float in much the way yours does.

I didn't do anything fancy for a mounting method. I simply went through the backside of the shelf with the mounting hardware. It was very tricky to do because it had to all be done through the front opening and the cordless was a very tight fit.

Very nice Brandon. Nicely styled, & there's nothing better than making use of leftovers.
