Project Information

A very good friend sent me some Holly, it is exceptionally clear and creamy. What to do with it to do it justice? You be the judge if I suceeded.

This is a box with a drop-in lid.
Approx' 112mm square x 69mm high.
Made from Holly and Indian Ebony.
Glue is PVA and finish wax over sanding sealer.

Wow, Martyn! So crisp and clean looking! How big is it? I would say it was a resounding success! It is absolutely elegant and beautiful! The curved, subtle lines are just outstanding. I love how the curve of the handle matches the curve of the lid and top. Another incredible addition to your many beautiful projects. Just breath taking!

You done justice. Cute idea with the miter beveled top.

Martyn, on second look I just noticed that in photo #3, the lid seems to be hovering in mid air. Tell us the secret!

Its just balanced on the back 1/2 of the box, Charlie. The high point at the back corner helps.

The impossible I can do, miracles will take significantly longer.

This is an inspired piece. The form and craftsmanship come together in an elegant and airy art piece. Simple and complex at once.
