Project Information

These candlesticks are turned from Cherry, and are based on a project from Woodcraft Magazine. The finger ring on the Jack-be-Nimble style candlesticks is also Cherry. A small slot is cut in the side of the dish to accept the ring, and the joint is reinforced with a small dowel.

I started out to make 12 with finger rings. In the end I had 10 with finger rings, one that the dish had to be turned down too small for a finger ring (the last picture), and one in the scrap bin.

I don't do a lot of turning, but I really enjoy it. These were a fun challenge.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Tony! - Good to see you! How are you settling in to the new place?

@Kate - I used Myland's High Build Friction Polish. I'm not really sure what that stuff is, but I suspect it is primarily wax. And I'm just about out … I have to pick up some more in the next couple of days!
