Project Information

Well, it took me about a year and a half, but I finally finished the dresser and mirror to match the night stands that I built previously. As, with the night stands, they're maple and walnut, and they're all assembled using floating tenons - which I'm finding a lot easier than integral tenons. Everything is finished with 5 coats of wipe-on poly.

Now, I've got to design and build a bed to complete the set. Any good ideas for a CA king platform frame with storage drawers? Nothing I've come up with so far says "Ahah!".

They're beautiful. I really like how you did the walnut on the dresser. The curves really makes this interesting along with the wood choice.

What amazing attention to detail and workmanship. You should be very proud of you skill. I really appreciate that Asian influence in your design. It's very attractive and I am not a big fan of it. Yours is really nice.

Lee,

The dresser, mirror, and night stands look fabulous. What a labor of love! I agree with Pottz that you should be able to take the same basic design from your dresser and apply it to the bed. The same drawer layout of the top two rows might look good for the drawers on the sides of the bed. Maybe you could extend the walnut on the foot- and headboards to make it somewhat of a four-poster. (This isn't on the caliber of your furniture, but it might give you an idea.)

If you come up with an idea for your CA King bed with storage, please share! I've been going through the exact same situation in my head, and also can't come up with anything really great.

Of course, if it looks half as good as the rest of your bedroom set I might be too intimidated to try to copy it!
