Project Information

Just finished a project for a client who wanted a triple bunk bed for his three young ladies. The bed is built out of dimensional framing lumber and painted white. Not only did my wife help me paint the bed she allowed me to take over the living room to use as my assembly area. This was one project that might have been a little to big for the shop.

Looks very nice and well built. Had to build a double when my daughter went off to college because of limited space. Am a bit curious about the bottom bunk being right on the floor, is this something the customer wanted ? I would have thought that it would have been 6 to 12 inches off the floor.

That is to allow extra room between bunks. We were limited by the height and length of the room.

That is just great!! Very resourceful. I have a loft for two, but now need the third bed, this is just perfect. May I use your idea?? Just curious: how long to draw plans on sketchup?

Nice Job!

At some point I would like to make a loft/bunkbed for my two boys. Once they stop launching themselves from every elevated platform, that is. I taught them to say "Geronimo" right before they jump, so I have some fun out of it. My wife isn't as amused.

I have been looking to make one of these only with the third bed at at an L to the other two. I have had many ideas but none yet that really seem to work. Very nice work on this one.

I don't mind other people using my take on what I'm sure is someone else's take on someone else's idea… It think it took an afternoon to do the plan up in sketchup. I'm still learning how to use it.

Hi, Mike, great idea! I also have 3 girls and would like to do something like this. Could you give me an idea what the finished dimensions were?

Absolutely love this. Would love to build it for my grandkids. We are dealing with a 2nd floor sloping ceiling and this would be perfect. Great job and terrific design.
