Project Information
Inspired by Andy's tutorial on box making I decided to use up some of the small pieces of exotic woods I had laying around. What fun!
The first one I made using Lace Wood for the box, Marble wood for the lid and oak bottom.
The second one is Lace wood for the box, Blood wood for the lid and an oak bottom.
Not happy with the fit of the lids I finally smartened up and made a jig to cut the pieces accurately.
The third one is Tulip wood for the box and bottom, Macassar Ebony for the lid. I also added ebony dowels for a slight difference. Finally I have a nice fit on the lids.
Finish is 6 coats Formby's Tung Oil and multiple coats of Briwax.
What a great time making these boxes. I'm giving them away for Christmas.
Thanks Andy.
Merry Christmas to all and have a Happy New Year.
