Project Information

My first time working with rough lumber. Should have started with a smaller project! Walnut lived up to it's reputation of being easy to work with although the boards had a small crook requiring some work to square them off for edge joining. I worked from plans off the Ana White website, and while straightforward I wish I had used better joinery for the legs. I have a feeling that I may redo them in the future. I chickened out and only used pocket screws to make the table top. That way I could go backwards if I screwed up without having to worry about glue. The top is 8 feet by 38 inches and should seat 10 comfortably. Time for a family get-together!

I love this table design. Can't wait to give it a try myself. I don't plan to use pocket screws but that may change since I'm not very experienced at cutting tenons and doing mortises. Then again everyone has to learn sometime.
