Project Information

I've had this fascination with tree branches and antler motiffs lately. This is a window i made for my place. Its actually a "faux" window since where i wanted to put it has a closet on the other side of the wall. Its a true divided lite and is all made from Spanish cedar.

I have ideas for a door running around in my head!

What a great window miles…just beautiful….did you cut the glass yourself or have it cut.

LOL…I just commented on your poplar board….would make a great door….wouldn't want to paint it though obviously.

You just added to my projects to do someday list. I really like it. Thanks for sharing.

Bob, its just 1/8" dsb glass so was not difficult to cut. Although there does seem to be about a 100% waste factor on glass when cutting for something like this!

Its very eye catching. We have an end wall of a bathroom that could use a faux window like that so nobody could see in. Looks great.

Mike, each piece is like a typical window muntin with joints where they intersect, so its basically all cut on the bandsaw. Then i used a router with a bearing to rabbet out the back for the glass and put the profile on the front. Just have to be careful about where you put brads in the joints or you'll make a mess of ya router bits.

That is a great project. Did you put a night light behind it so show light to the outside?

Karson, seeing that the window is on my front porch it did cross my mind as a great place for a security camera.
