Project Information

Random colors of trapezoid (45 degree) and rectangle combined together to form a board like this…

.... not contented I continue with the sides…

note that the first row nearest the miter top joint is bigger… The purpose is to have an extra waste materials for me to cut it using router (1/8 bit). This will eliminate the lipping step.

A wooden hinge is used and a carved front knob using dremel. The easier part is the longitudinal post that make it easy for the router to make the bevel for the miter joint. The brittleness of the wood made some tearouts.

Size is big.. Outside dimension: 8-1/2 square x 3 inches depth.
The inside trays is on the plan depending on who will be using this.

Thanks for viewing and hope you enjoy the nature wonders of wood colors. I dont have any idea on the real names of the wood as they were from recycled wood. These are my leftovers and offcuts Here we have:
Black - Ebony (Kamagong)
Dark Brown - Balitadtad (Philippine wood)
White - Unknown from crate
Dirty white - unknown
RED - Nice wood came from the old house.
GREEN - Probably a european wood because the crate came from Europe
Light Brown- NARRA
NOTE: The all caps above are hard to find ciolors.

Till next time.
Have a nice day.

Thanks Monte.
Oh… If someone would be asking those on the background on Photo 5 and 6… The cylinders were just finished at the same time… One of them is also posted as project.

Nice medley of woods Bert .
Great imagination putting this all together into a very nice and unique box .
You could call it the world box according of the origin of the woods you listed .

You are kind of like an alchemist Bert, but instead of turning lead to gold you are turning scrap wood to treasure. Great box with interesting colors and patterns.
