Trap Door To the Basement

Here in California there arn't many houses with a full basement. The older houses sometimes have one. My friend has as house that had a floor furnace that she never used and the size lent itself for a trap door. We took out the floor furnace, I made a ladder for her and finished out the opening to 15×26. The door mimics the existing floor and I epoxied the oak to 5/8 mdf. Had to strong back the thing with some heavy iron channel for support and to remove the warpage. The door has a flush ring pull in the top side and a handle on the bottom side.
