This is a very old project to encourage our beginner woodworkers. Like many, I'm a self taught woodworker through the use of books, experience, and now sites like LJ. I made this toy box when my boys were 9,7,4, and 2. They are now 32, 30, 27, and 25. This project was self designed when my woodworking skills were infant. The toy box is the base with a simple lift lid. For some forgotten reason, I added a 2X4 post in the middle of the sides and placed a couple of crewed shelves on these posts. Over the years, we used the shelves as kid's bookshelves, and junk collector, etc. This project, as you see it, belongs to my 30 year old son. All 4 sons wanted the project and he won it by straw vote. It now sits in his entrance room and has the duty of a boot and junk seat. The moral of this project is geared for our novice members. Don't under estimate yourselves. Your beginner's project may seem crude to you, but your family will cherish it for the simple reason that home made projects are rare these days. Home made projects made by you will become cherished, irreplaceable items!
