This looks like it is coming together. I have never had the chance to work with elm, other than as (GASP) firewood. How did you happen to select this wood as part of your project?

Oh , I got a good price on the ELM , and suprize !!! I LOVE IT , it's so so so easy to work with , nice medium density , of course that may be just this board i got, who knows >? But I like it , Think I'll try ekm again , I like the color and grain and 'texture'.... Plus it's cheaper. Thanks!

Nice Asian look to the legs on this, Patrick. Coolbreeze's descriptive is pretty funny. Who knows how heavy those tools will be. Might as well be ready for anything, handplane bodies made from depleted uranium, etc.

Hi Patric, It looks like you are on your way to building a nice looking tool chest, Im in toe middel of building one myself baised on the Gerstner design. I never thought about building a stand for it though, it sounds like a great idea and i cant wait to see your finished project.

That is going to be on fine looking tool chest. You will have to polish each tool before you put it in the chest.
