Project Information

Building panels today, working and trueing up 1×6 boards for panel building. Also started doing our own tongue and groove joinery sure makes for a better panel and much easier glue up, does anyone else do there own tongue and groove?. I have thought about dowels or biscuits, but I am convinced this is much better, at least for my shop anyway. And by the time you mess around drilling dowel holes or biscuit slots, you could have run your material through the router table and be done. and still save time, even using just one router table it doesn't take long to change over to the other cutter. Just my thoughts and sharing some photos.

Hello Todd,

Have you been shopping at Montes place?

All methods have their pros and cons T & G certainly makes for a neat joint, I even use a modified T & G for doing edge banding, maye I should post it for info too, originally I didnt think it would be of interest to anybody.

Nice timber… now where is the shop dog not asleep in front of the thicknesser I hope!

I have a T&G cutters for my shaper but I have not used them much in years. I am planning on tonque and grooving the bottom shelf on my Roubo bench. However, I will have to use a dado cutter and rabbit cutter because the boards are 1.5 inches.
A lot of good dog bedding in that pile of shavings.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions everyone, some have messaged me about what I do with my shavings. We use most of them for our chicken coops, have been for years and never had any problems. We have 120 chickens so it definitely goes to good use. Then when we clean out the coops we take it to the compost pile and use it in the garden, like I said nothing goes to waste. What ever we don't use I sell in 55 gallon bags for $5.00 a bag, but it's rare to have any extra lol.
