Project Information
I began this piece a couple of years ago. At that time, I had noted in my sketch book that "Even when the world feels upside down, we find a way to make it work." I had the idea of an upside-down triangle but was struggling with several design elements that just didn't feel balanced. For a variety of reasons, I put the project on the shelf.
Several weeks ago, a front-line ER nurse told a reporter that "the whole world feels upside down." She then shared her story of trying to find balance in a topsy turvy pandemic world. Her words and conviction made me return to the upside-down sculpture that I had been working on.
I present for your consideration "Tipping Point - a study in balance" the latest piece in my series of functional art boxes.
Made from hard maple with quilted maple fronts and lid. The red and black coloring was hand applied using organic dyes.
The support is acrylic.
The dividers in the drawers are removable to provide different storage options.
