Project Information

I learned to timber frame a few years ago when I was part of a crew that built a Memorial Chime Tower at St. Olaf College in Minnesota. I was able to rescue some scraps of beautiful larch timber, and made this bench for my kids. Its a beast, but it mimics some of the lines of the tower, and has no fasteners other than wooden pegs.

Really nice. Could't be more solid if it was a giant stump. That could last a lifetime. The catch will be when the kids outgrow it, will you keep it as a sawbench for yourself, or set it aside for your kids to give to their kids? :)
It will last forever either way.

I'd sure like to have a sketchup drawing of this.

How tall is it?

How wide is it?

How long is it?

How thick is the seat?

Nice solid piece of work! I am sure it will be fought over later on in life. Better start on more one for each kid.
I don't see a finish are you going to finish it?

Looks a little wobbly… ;^p
Joking aside, Great looking, sturdy workhorse. Got plans or measurements? I would love to recreate this.
