This is my small basement shop. It is an ever evolving space that is slowly getting to where I want it. I've been in this shop for almost 5 years now. Most of the tools and equipment came from Craigslist, antique shops, the side of the road etc. I love saving a tool that someone else thinks is junk. Most tools are brought back, modified and made to work better than original.

Great shop space, that can be a good feeling to safe a tool from the landfill, when it can be repaired. Those old models and names were made to last.

I get a certain satisfaction in fixing old junk. I really prefer working with older tools anyway.

Very nice, I had the same table saw and bandsaw as you for a long time. and I really like the Nicholson bench style.

is that a router table integrated into the corner of the bench along the wall? if so that's a cool idea, does it work well in that space?

I actually really love that table saw! Its been upgraded with billet pulleys, a link belt and delta t square fence. It could use some more power but overall it does everything I ask of it. The band saw isn't so loved but it does its job.

The router table is indeed sunk into the table top. It works really nice there with stuff up to about 3 ft long. Anything longer and I use the router out of the table.

At some point in going to sunk the miter saw into the table too. But, I've been saying that for 5 years so maybe not!

Jerry, you have a nice shop. Hear is an idea for the miter saw bench.

I riped down some 2×6 stock, and made the run outs about 3' long on each side. Used a 1/2" by 6" board for the guide and I have a block with thumb screws to use as a stop block. Storage in the back and below.

Hello Jerry… nice shop! Hey, I also like your workbench. Do you like the Nicholson vise? Does ti rack? Perhaps you have a few comments or pics of the build and its functionality. I am considering making one. Thanks. Alex AKA BentonTool.

Thanks Alex! My shop is currently in the middle of a refresh, moving tools, painting stuff, dust collection etc. So its a bit of a mess currently. However I do have some pictures of my vise and bench after a year or so of use. I can very strongly say that I absolutely LOVE my bench and everything about it. The vise works really well but it took quite a bit of tuning to get it there. I really should have used square stock for the stabilizer rod but once I had the whole round dowel property supported it works beautifully. Very little racking. Feel free to ask questions or for more pictures

You can see in the last pic is from the underside of the bench where I had to add support for the dowel rod. This keeps it from racking and locking up in the hole. Its a weird setup that I've never seen before. I came up with it on the fly. Vise opens and closes with 1 finger on the screw, super easy.
