Project Information
I've never built a bed frame before. Working at this scale is exhausting and barely fits in my shop (everything pushed to the walls!). Solid tassie oak, (Organoil) danish oil then shellac for the finish. The headboard is on a 5 degree angle, with the darker bits just being stained (walnut → ebony, which is what the wife wanted).
We've slept on it for about 4 months now, so far no damaged shins/knees - more danger from the cat (he's a bengal) popping out from underneath, as its tall enough for him to get a good wriggle on, and nibbling my ankles.
Next up is to make some lamps to go on our side tables (LED strip lighting behind rice paper screens - have the parts, just not the time yet), then some side tables that match.
