Project Information
And the 100 awl giveaway continues! I call this little rascal the "Golden Ratio" awl. As stated in other projects, my goal is to make 10 different types of awls and give 10 of each awl model away. What do I want in return? A picture of an awl that you made (it's really that easy)!
I used redheart, curly maple and 'essence of ebony' (ground up ebony, mixed with epoxy). To give this feller a little strength, I crossed the grain, similar to plywood. Because crossing the grain can be problematic, I added dowels. The result? Watch the video. I used a mallet on it in the end…she's a durable little tool.
I used sketchup to come up with the golden ratio, printed it off and glued it to my redheart/curly maple blanks. Then I used a scroll saw to cut it out and a dremel to round the edges. While very time consuming, it was a fun project that comes with its own hook to hang it with.
Thanks for looking!
Oh and if you're interested in getting your picture at the end of a video with an awl you made (as well as an awl), click here: https://makethingswithrob.com/stubby_awl/
