I love pizza and I have been going to the same place for 15 years. The owner is really nice and gives me a good price on the pizzas. In return I try to make gifts for him. Last month I gave him a Pizza Cutter that I made from a kit from Rockler.
This month I thought Iʻd make him a nice Welcome Sign/Tip box for his store.
It started with an oval of 1/2 inch thick corian. I used a CNC router to cut the design. I then colored in the routed areas.
The corian is recessed in a 3/4 inch piece of walnut veneer plywood. The difference was filled with a matching plywood oval.

The next challenge was how to make feet for this board with the corian oval so it wouldnʻt tip over. A tip box about 6 inches square and about 3 inches high was the solution to the challenge. The sides, front and bottom of the tip box are 1/2 inch baltic birch plywood. No back was required. The top with the slot was made with 1/4" plywood. Using my scroll saw I cut the word TIPS in the front of the box. I then used some 3/4 inch plastic that I had laying around and cut out the letters to be press-fitted into the cutouts so that they projected out from the front of the box.

From the back side you can see the 1/4 inch plywood oval that filled in the recess. The corian and the plywood oval is attached with just hot glue.
The board/corian assembly was placed 1-1/2 inch forward of the back edge of the box.

A small drawer was made to catch the tips and a 7/8 inch hole allows the drawer to be removed.

The top of the box was attached tho the cutout in the board with small wood screws. Before assembly the countersunk screw holes were drilled and access holes were cut in the bottom of the box to allow a long phillips screwdriver bit to install the screws.
Two small wood screws were also installed at an angle to grab the sides of the box.
