Project Information
So here is the concept. Team up with other artisans to make something together that you couldn't make working as individuals. In this case we made boxes by combining our talents. Nancy does fantastic artwork and I do woodwork. She painted a top on gesso board and I built a box around that art work. To protect her art, I put it in a freezer bag, built and finished the box with wipe on poly, and then cut away and removed the protective bag. Using a burner, Nancy created this moon face for the outside and the sun face for the inside of the box. (One goes right side up and the other goes upside down.) The great thing about a box is that you get to see two views…one closed and one open.
Bob does great scroll work. He cut this Amish buggy scene out of 1/2 inch oak. I added a walnut veneer backing and built a box around it.
Well you get the idea. So Lumber Jocks, who do you know that you could team up with to make a box or two? It really is fun to work with other people in a realm that can be pretty lonely. This was a successful opening at a local gallery and we have now sold all 30 of these teamwork boxes.
Thanks for looking. I'll post more now that I have the hang of how to do it.
