Project Information

I finished this platter about 3 weeks ago, made from Tassy Oak (Eucalyptus obliqua). The blank has been sitting on my shelf for a couple of years waiting for some inspiration to strike. Eventually that happened and I had to cut the blank round to fit on my lathe.
The completed size is 14.5 in x 3.5in. The ceramic tile in the centre is 6in diameter.
The Platter is finished with spray on 'Krylon' clear varnish.

C & C welcome.

Bob.

Way to go Bob That wood is awsome. Can't wait to see some of the others that I know you have. Incidently, what size and kind of lathe do you have, wish that I would have bought a bigger one, and could turn projects that size. Does it have outboard features?

Thank you for your feedback, it is greatly appreciated.

Rockbuster; I have a Nova 1624-44, it has a 16in swing and also outboard capabilities. I don't have a mobile tool support yet, but am working on that. At this point in time I am happy with the 16 inch. Although I have to say that I have a piece of Camphor Laurel with he most beautiful colours, just sitting and waiting for me. I will have to cut it down to 15 3/4 so that I can core it out and get about 4 bowl blanks out of it.
