Project Information
Since the expiry date of my old tapering jig has exceeded, I decided to fabricate this new model that also allows to joint at the table saw or at the router table.
The parallel base is a 9" X 28" piece of 5/8" MDF on which I laid out parallel lines for five sets of 3-1/2" long 1/4" carriage bolts. The two hardwood pieces (poplar) about 5/8" X 1-1/2" X 8-3/4" act as pressure bars.
The small lower knobs are only used to level the pressure bars. The securing down pressure is applied with the larger top mounted knobs.
For repetitive cuts I'm adding a stop strip for now (photo #1), until I fabricate sliding stops to be located between the pressure bars.
To straighten edges, the same jig can also be used free hand at a router table outfitted with a
bottom bearing mounted flush trim bit or a guide bushing.
