Project Information

If you haven't made a tapering / straightening jig it is a must! This is mine based on a rockler free plan I found. It's 4 ft long 12" wide with kreg t-slots.

I opted to make my own star knobs & hold Downs. The knobs I made from a dense oak pallet. Hold Downs are frommaple

I made this mainly to straighten rough lumber. I still need to finish the holder for the tapering part.

Thanks for looking!

Cool!

I like the hold downs.
I did a couple with aluminum but I like wood better; they don't dent the piece being held down.

Looks great. :)
I have a short version for angled box sides, but will be building a longer version for tapered legs and cleaning up rough edges.

Nice build. The link that John posted is the same plan I used when I built mine. It works very well. Ya gotta luv Woodsmith.

Nice looking jig Greg. That should help you keep your digits in good working condition. I tried out an old Hinged jig I procured several decades ago. Holding the legs down on the table and against the jig against the fence on a test piece just scared the heck outa me, so I built one with hold downs as well. I feel much better and still have all ten digits intact. Happy tapering to you.
