Project Information

I was asked a couple of days ago to make something for the Ronald McDonald House Silent Auction (being held in 4 more days). I'd never done anything like that before but I said I would see what I could come up with.

I found this design on the Interweb (and having played a little Super Mario Brothers back in the day)...I was intrigued by the design.

Some people will recognize it right away. My grandson, who has never shown any excitement in my projects, came into the shop this afternoon and immediately exclaimed, "Wow! That's from Super Mario!!"

It's cut from Cherry, Maple and Walnut and finished with Mineral Oil. The bottoms are beveled and rubber feet are added.

I hope it brings some money for the charity auction!

Thanks for looking and your comments are welcomed.

Never played Super Mario but I have done work for the Ronald McDonald House. Our bicycle group did a great job raising over $10K.

I realize your cutting board is not going to raise that kind of money, but every little bit helps and your efforts are appreciated. A very worthy cause.

Thanks for sharing. I like the design and how can you go wrong with any of the woods you chose? Beautiful.

LoL. That definitely brings out the little kid! I'm sure you'll get some great responses to that and someone at the auction will surely scoop it up!

Smitty - I get the feet off Amazon or from Rockler. Like these, but there are many available.

Right Henry! Bang your head into this and get a "mushroom" or a "1 up" (Sorry, that makes no sense if you haven't played the video game).
The board was fun nevertheless!

Nice work!
Not sure of the connection with Super Mario. may have to ask my now semi adult kids!!
Iinterestingly enough the same program runs here in Australia, no doubt after seeing some of the replies its a world wide activity.

Looks like you can also get a Big Mac in Texas,.... No doubt theirs are bigger than anywhere else in the world!!

Great contribution.

Being someone who grew up playing Mario Brothers myself, I think this cutting board is just awesome. Just great work and a great idea! Congrats.
