Project Information

This is absolutely the best smelling project I have ever done!

This is a stylus kit from penn state ind with a coffee n cream blank i picked up at the woodworking show a few months ago. I put a few coats of CA glue on it to keep the beans in place and from chipping out while in use.

Based on other online reviews of the coffee blank, i made sure the lathe chisels were at their sharpest and only took off very little bits at a time. The coffee beans will chip out. very easily.

how was it to turn? Was the change in texture a pain? I love how it looks!

It was easy to turn,
I just made sure the chisels were at the sharpest I knew how to make them and then only took off very little bits at a time. I may do that more offen with other woods too…a lot less sanding that way. I went from chisel to 300 grit no problem…the 300 may even have roughed up the surface the chisels left behind.
