Project Information

This box is a commissioned piece for Scott in trade for some blacksmith lessons from him.
He is a true artist in the forge. Check out his website here. www.essentialcraftsman.com

This box is made from Quarter Sawn White Oak native to where I live in southern Oregon, and was milled by the customer.
The center lid panel is Ziricote and the handle is Brazilian Rosewood, woods I had on hand.
The divider sides are Oregon Maple (live edge) as is the tray.
Accents are Paduak and Walnut.
Finish is semi gloss lacquer.

Thanks for looking.

p.s.
I have a rather unique box that I will be posting next week, stay tuned.

Another great box, as I've come to expect of your work. The ziricote is fantastic.

Nice to see an"Andy Box" again. It,s been too long, welcome back.
This one is beautiful as we have come to expect.
It's hard to imagine what heights you will achieve if you acquire the kind of proficiency with metal that you have with wood. Best of luck on the quest.

Andy,

Nicely done as always. Nice to see my inspiration generator is turned back on. LOL! Best of luck on your trade and new directions. I just got a welder. Looking forward to seeing new evolutions/revolutions.

Andy, you are my hero. Guess we will be seeing you hammering on Forged In Fire soon. As to this box, your carving has a wonderful flow to it. I like the subtle way you made the thin dividers stronger with the inserted ends and the small storage box. Hope your blacksmith friend is a good teacher, because it is a beautiful box you are swapping. Nice to see your work again. Keep the anvil ringing and your coals hot.

Very nice sculpturing. I'm still trying to find just right type of wood and box to do that.

The scooped out tray is very interesting. Is it stationary?

The box is your usual awesome, but now I am in real suspense waiting for the mixed media box you make after the forging classes are done.

Steve.
