A morris chair has been on my build list for a long time now and I finally felt ready to tackle the project a little while back. All in cherry and based on Robert Lang's design in Popular Woodworking from a few years ago. Easily one of the most comfortable chairs in the house!

A couple of firsts for me with this project - first time doing bent lamination (for the back slats), as well as upholstery. All hand tools except the milling.

One of these days I'll get around to making a ottoman to match, but these were enough mortise and tenons for a little while!

Cheers,
Tim

Nice job on this project! Love the cherry. Impressive that you did it primarily with hand tools and also did the upholstery. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful Morris chair you made and excellent craftsmanship too! We have two original S.A. Cook Morris chairs (patent date 1901) that I restored. Like yours, ours are very comfortable, with six reclining positions. I built two Mission style Ottomans to go with them; you can see them here:

Thank You!

Your ottomans look great - nice work with the mortises in the arches!

Thanks Paul - agreed - I fall asleep in this one at least once a week.

Nice job all around. I like the implementation in cherry. That will be an heirloom piece.
