Made from Black Walnut and Mesquite
Well this new rocker design is out of Scotts head and in full life form now. What a work of art this turned out to be. I was blown away when I saw it all complete. And once I sat in it and it formed to me perfectly, I was in love. He really out did himself with this one. He wanted the name to represent us somehow and therefore being the wonderful husband he is and knowing how much I loved it, he named it after me. I only wish I had room for it in the cabin. It was quite an undertaking to make. The leg form is a real beast and weighs a ton. As you can see from the construction photos it took a lot of clamps and some special bolt clamping that Scott came up with to ensure this was glued down just right. What a lot of glue also. It was a dripping mess. Each leg was made from 9ft laminated strips of walnut about 3" thick and sat in the form for a week each. The arms were made from mesquite and a special form was made to lay on the leg so the arm could suspend out and come up the leg. The back rest was made from walnut with mesquite facing and each one was bentwood laminations to fit just perfect in the back. We left the top of them floating in the headrest so they have a slight flex. The seat was made from mesquite and there is a very strong joint where it meets the legs and the back of it just floats. The headrest was also made from mesquite. The combination of the walnut and mesquite on this rocker is very beautiful.
This rocker got A LOT of attention at the Texas mesquite Festival last weekend where it was shown off. We were told numerous times that it was the talk of the show amongst customers and other wood workers.
