That's really nice. How did you get the design on the top? Looks incredibly smooth.

Thanks Jofa.

I printed an "M" (the kids name is Max) using some font on microsoft word onto cardstock which is a bit thicker than regular printer paper. I used that as a stencil by cutting it out and applying spray glue to the back of the cardstock, letting it dry a bit and then pressing it down. 1 pass with the spray can and then 3 coats of semi-gloss spray polyurethane with sanding between.

I'm going to need to make another (my own son won't leave it alone) and when I do I will use a higher quality pine for the sides or I will use a primer coat. You can see where the paint adhered differently to a few of the knots in the wood and left dull spots in the paint finish.

Looks nice, would also make a great stepping stool for the kitchen if your cabinets are like mine.

Pretty step stool, very nice combo of painted legs with natural pine. The stenciled font is a cool accent. Great job!

Thanks Fishinbo and Helluvawreck.

Turns out they are a hit with my sister and my little boy so there will be at least 2 more.
