Project Information

I had some spare 8/4 cherry lumber that I decided to try to use to make a square bowl. The first attempt ended with too much tearout, so I had to make it into a regular old round bowl. I figured out the appropriate gouge approach and technique on the second bowl, and it came out okay. These both ended up as Christmas gifts. I'll have to try it out on some more interesting wood next time. Finish is carnuba wax on the round bowl and Minway gloss wipe-on poly on the square one.

They are a lot of fun to make, bit dodgy for the fingers though.
Great job.

Yeah, I was very careful to keep my knuckles clear of those sharp edges. Fortunately I didn't get cut.
