Oh jeez! Another couple of whacks with a gouge and you could've had a real functioning chain! I'm glad to see you were aptly awarded for your effort.

You do know the tradition of Carving sppons is a Welsh one where the intended groom has to make a love spoon for his bride to be.I know because my dear Wife Bronwen is Welsh and I made her one nearly 40 years ago.Alistair

Jim, that's really really beautiful! I judged a show last year and my choice for Best of Intermediate was indeed a spoon - I never would've thought I'd choose that - however, with the cleanliness of yours, I would've chosen it as well. Great job, difficult to do.
And Alistair, I never knew that and that makes them more special!

Thanks for all the great comments.
Alistair- Yes I have carved many and the first was for my beautiful wife. The rest of them are for many different reasons but mostly for a smile.
Jordan- I would like to judge a show sometime, looks like fun.

Fabulous job, Jim. Absolutely stunning….

but was the inclusion of the ribbon to show the scale…. LOL

a dime, quarter (or the '1st Place-premium' check for $1000) would have been better…LOL
