Project Information

This has been on my to do list for a couple of years and I'm elated with the result.

The box is made from Huon pine and what I'm calling "Thai teak". This beautiful two tone timber came from some offcuts from a construction site in Thailand from my holiday last year that I lugged back home and have been wondering what to use it for ever since, I didn't even realise that it had these beautiful colours until I came to cut it.

It was a bit of challenge to line the case before putting it together but it all worked out well in the end.

The box is finished with only a couple of coats of wax which have really brought out the beautiful colours of the timbers.

That is sweet.
I love the hinge. I have been trying to think out one of these for years. I may just steal this.

Very nice. That wood looks like what is known locally as 'mai pradoo', a good find from a construction sight.

Great looking case, like the hinge and the slanting cut of the cover. The wood is really beautiful. Great job!
